Inokashira Park · Kichijoji

A pond-side walk is an easy counterpoint to the busy terminal districts. Combine a short circuit with Kichijoji shopping rather than trying to cover every part of the park and nearby attractions.

A simple way to visit

  1. Reach the park from Kichijoji and find a pond-side route.
  2. Choose a short out-and-back or loop, with a seated break.
  3. Return to the station-side shopping streets before travelling onward.

Make the most of your visit

This is a rail trip from Shinjuku, not a continuous walk. Choose it as an alternative afternoon to Shinjuku Gyoen.

Rainy-day planning

Shorten the park walk in heavy rain and spend more time in Kichijoji shops. Avoid slippery pond-side paths.
