Your travel data stays in your browser
Language, currency, saved places, itinerary dates and notes, checklists and reflections are saved in the browser you use. JapaLens does not store your itinerary or notes on its servers. There is no account synchronization: another device or browser will not automatically have your plan. Clearing this site’s browser data removes local settings and travel data. Anyone using the same browser profile may be able to view them.
Saving and sharing
A saved travel-data file includes your notes. Share links include the plan and dates; notes are included only if you choose to add them. Anyone holding the link can read its contents. Choosing email or app sharing passes the link to your selected service, whose privacy policy applies. Nothing is sent automatically. Avoid entering sensitive personal information or payment details.
External services and advertising links
External images and fonts may send your IP address to their providers. Selecting a place in the travel map loads Google Maps. The Shinjuku area map loads map tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and connection information; it does not request your current location. External websites have their own privacy policies. Advertising links may pass through A8.net; a click may share your IP address, referral and click information with A8.net and the provider, and cookies may be used for attribution. Pages also load the Travelpayouts Drive script, which converts some travel-service links (tours, transport, eSIM and similar) into affiliate links; Travelpayouts and the provider may receive your IP address, referral and click information, and may use cookies for attribution. Other affiliate tracking images are not loaded merely when you view a page.
Optional analytics
Google Analytics 4 is loaded only after you allow analytics. It uses cookies to measure page visits, device and language information, approximate country or region and outbound link clicks. Accommodation-link events may include the public hotel identifier and whether the destination is a hotel listing or city search. We do not intentionally send names, email addresses, form entries or URL query strings and fragments in analytics events. Advertising personalization and Google signals are disabled.
Change your analytics choice
Use Analytics settings in the footer to change your choice. The choice is saved in this browser for 180 days. It is separate from cookie choices on external websites. Google processes analytics data under its own privacy policy.
