Save your hotel’s exact name, address and entrance first. Then compare the trip from the actual arrival terminal to that entrance. The route comparisons below are JapaLens editorial guidance; official links establish the transport options, not a guaranteed journey for your date.
Compare the rail route that reaches your hotel area
| Option | When to compare it | Before choosing |
|---|---|---|
| Haneda: Keikyu | Compare for Shinagawa and onward rail connections. Check the actual train destination and any changes required. | Your terminal, train destination, station exit and hotel entrance. |
| Haneda: Tokyo Monorail | Compare via Hamamatsucho, then include the onward journey to your hotel. | The connection at Hamamatsucho and an accessible route with your luggage. |
| Narita: Narita Express | Compare for Tokyo, Shinagawa, Shibuya and Shinjuku. Confirm the destination of the specific service. | Your train, seat/ticket conditions and service-change notices for the travel date. |
| Narita: Skyliner | Compare for Nippori and Keisei Ueno, including any onward connection. | The final station-to-hotel journey; a fast airport train is only one part of it. |
| Narita: Access Express | Another Keisei route to compare. Through-service destinations vary; use the operator route map for the actual train. | The destination display, stops, changes and ticket rules; distinguish it from Skyliner. |
Haneda has Keikyu and Tokyo Monorail access. Narita rail stations serve Terminal 1 and Terminals 2/3; Terminal 3 requires a separate terminal-to-station walk. Include this part when allowing time.
Compare a bus or taxi against the complete rail journey
Airport bus
Check the exact stop, operating date and departure terminal. A bus serving a district does not establish a stop at your hotel. Compare the walk from the stop, reservation rules and baggage limits. Allow for road conditions.
Taxi or reserved transfer
Compare when reducing transfers matters to your group. Confirm the total charge, tolls, late-night charges, passenger and luggage capacity, meeting point and flight-delay conditions. A fixed fare applies only under its stated conditions.
Three decisions before reserving transport
- Choose the destination first. Compare the hotel entrance with the arriving station or bus stop. For a base in Tokyo Station, Shinjuku, Asakusa or Shinagawa, use our hotel-area guide alongside official route searches.
- Count walking as part of the trip. Include immigration, baggage collection, the terminal-to-platform walk, waiting, transfers and the final walk. With a stroller or several bags, check lifts and the actual exit rather than assuming the shortest route works.
- Keep a late-arrival alternative. Check the last usable departure after arrival formalities, not just the plane’s scheduled landing time. If the connection fails, compare an available taxi/transfer or a suitable overnight stay and confirm the hotel’s late check-in instructions.
For a couple with light bags, compare rail and one final walk. With several bags or children, also compare a bus close to the hotel or a transfer with sufficient capacity. These are choices to evaluate, not a cheapest or fastest ranking.
